Sabato scorso, autori, editori, negozianti e fan si sono ritrovati al Baltimore Comic-Con 2019 per celebrare i canditati alla terza edizione dei Mike Wieringo Comic Book Industry Awards – meglio noti come Ringo Awards – e scoprire chi fossero i vincitori.

Ci riferiamo ovviamente ai riconoscimenti istituiti alla memoria dell’amatissimo fumettista di origini italiane, Mike Wieringo (24 giugno 1963 – 12 agosto 2007), scomparso prematuramente all’età di quarantaquattro anni.

 

 

Le nomination ai Ringo Awards nascono dal lavoro congiunto dei lettori e di un’apposita giuria, con i vincitori selezionati dagli addetti al lavoro nel mondo dei comics. Sono presenti cinque categorie votate direttamente dai fan e due Hero Initiative Awards.

Spicca l’ex aequo per la miglior serie, che vede vincitrice sia Immortal Hulk (Marvel, Panini per l’Italia), di Al Ewing e Joe Bennett, che Black Hammer: Age of Doom (Dark Horse, BAO), di Jeff Lemire e Dean Ormston, ma c’è gloria anche per gli autori di Saga (Image, BAO) e I miei eroi sono sempre stati tossici (Image, Panini).
